Interesting facts about cucumbers

The cucumber is a tropical plant originally from Asia. It began to be cultivated in India over 4000 years ago. The ancient Greeks and Romans subsequently brought it to Europe. It was so popular that the Roman Emperor Tiberius insisted on having fresh cucumber on his table every day, even in winter. Cucumbers were known for their healing properties, and the philosopher and writer Pliny the Elder wrote nearly forty cucumber recipes. The ancient Romans believed that the cucumber would protect them from scorpion bites, or scare away mice. Women who wanted to get pregnant wore it hanging at their waists. Today, the cucumber plays an important culinary role all over the world. Recipes include sweet cucumber cake and delicious home-made lemonade.

Ingredients: cane sugar*, cucumber juice* (Cucumis sativus, 5%), acidity regulator: citric acid, spirulina concentrate, safflower concentrate, natural flavouring.

Instruction for use: To prepare home-made drinks, dilute the syrup 1:10 with good quality water.

Other information: Store in a cool and dark place. Any cloudiness or foaming is not a concern as it highlights the naturalness of the product. Shake well before use. Refrigerate after opening and use within 14 days. Packaged in a protective atmosphere.

Nutritional information: 100ml contains: energy 1454 kJ / 346 kcal, fats < 0.1 g (of which saturated fatty acids < 0.1 g), carbohydrates 85 g (of which sugars 85 g), proteins < 0.1 g, salt < 0.01 g.
